SuomiSpeak ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use SuomiSpeak:

• Account information: Email address (via email sign-up or Google Sign-In)
• Learning preferences: Your selected Finnish level, learning target, and study pace
• Progress data: Lessons completed, exercises answered, XP earned, streaks, vocabulary words learned, and study time
• Payment information: Processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and personalise your Finnish learning experience
• Track your progress and generate customised study plans
• Sync your progress across devices
• Process payments for premium subscriptions
• Send optional learning reminders and notifications
• Improve our app and develop new features

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade security including encryption at rest and in transit. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor — we never store your card details on our servers.

Your learning progress is synced from your device to our servers to enable cross-device access. Local data is stored on your device using encrypted storage.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — Authentication and data storage
• Stripe — Payment processing
• Google Text-to-Speech — Finnish pronunciation audio
• Google Sign-In — Optional authentication method

Each service has its own privacy policy and handles data in accordance with their respective terms.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data: View all data we hold about you within the app
• Delete your account: Remove your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen
• Export your progress: Request a copy of your learning data
• Opt out of notifications: Disable all push notifications in your device settings

6. Children's Privacy

SuomiSpeak is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States and the European Union. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of SuomiSpeak after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
